The Bible With and Without Jesus Bible Study
Join The Six-Week Study, Beginning September 21st
at 11:00am in Room 50
This six-week study invites you to see scripture with fresh eyes. Guided by Pastor Mike and using The Bible With and Without Jesus by renowned scholars Amy-Jill Levine and Marc Zvi Brettler, we’ll explore some of the most widely quoted Hebrew Bible passages in the New Testament, uncovering what they meant in their original context and how Jews and Christians have interpreted them over centuries.
Together we’ll engage with texts like the creation story, Adam and Eve, Isaiah’s Suffering Servant, Jonah, and Psalm 22 — whose powerful words, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me,” Jesus speaks from the cross. This study offers a chance to deepen your understanding, honor multiple traditions, and discover new ways these texts speak to your life today. Whether you’re a seasoned reader or new to the Bible, you are invited into a space of dialogue, curiosity, and discovery.
