Mental Health Ministry

How You Can Help

This ministry thrives through the generosity of the community. Here’s how you can make a difference:

         • Share Resources — Help connect someone to helpful information, services, or support groups.
   • Spread Kindness — Small acts of compassion can break isolation and remind others they are seen and valued.
   • Speak Up — Advocate for mental health awareness and fair treatment for all.
   • Stay Informed — Learn about mental health issues and share what you learn to reduce stigma and misunderstandings.

In 2015, St. Francis created a Mental Health Ministry to help break the silence and stigma surrounding mental illness.

This ministry focuses on three vital areas:

  • Education to reduce the stigma of mental illness.

  • Assistance and resources for those living with mental illness and their loved ones.

  • Advocacy for expanded mental health programs and treatments.

  • *Offer activities and programs to promote optimal mental wellness for all.

We know that people living with mental illness are not strangers, they are our family members, friends, co-workers, faith companions, and sometimes ourselves. Nearly half of all Americans will experience mental illness in their lifetime, yet too many will not seek or receive the help they need. St. Francis hopes to change that through steady presence, compassion, and action.

Our Initiatives

The Mental Health Ministry works to create a supportive faith community that lifts barriers and opens doors for honest conversation and practical support. This includes sharing reliable resources, hosting events and discussions to increase awareness, connecting people to local mental health services, and advocating for policies that strengthen access to treatment and care.

Together, we aim to remind each person struggling that they are not alone, and that hope and help are possible. St. Francis is committed to standing alongside those living with mental illness, working to be a community of understanding, hope, and healing.
