WEAR ORANGE: National Gun Violence Awareness Day
Join us Sunday, June 7th as we Wear Orange in support of National Gun Violence Awareness Day.
The first Sunday of June is National Gun Violence Awareness Day. It began when friends of Hadiya Pendleton, a 17 year old girl who had marched in President Obama's second inaugural parade, was shot and killed a week later. Her friends commemorated her life by wearing orange, the color hunters wear in the woods to protect themselves and others.
Wear orange has been a long-standing tradition at St.Francis, honoring not only the 130 people killed in the United States everyday, but also the victims and survivors of Tucson's own tragic shooting on January 8, 2011.
Following the 9:30am service, we will gather on the Front Porch to take a group photograph as we present our support in a wave of orange.

Welcome Book For Pastor Rev. Michael Long
WELCOME BOOK for our new Pastor Reverend Michael Long
As we prepare to welcome Pastor Michael to St. Francis, we would love to create a special keepsake to help introduce him to the incredible people who make this community what it is.
We invite everyone to contribute a one-page introduction sharing a little about yourself, your family, your interests, or anything else you would like Pastor Michael to know about you. This is your chance to “let your light shine” and help offer a warm and personal welcome as he begins this new chapter with St. Francis.
You are also encouraged to include some of your favorite Tucson recommendations—restaurants, local spots, recreational activities, entertainment, hidden gems, or places that help make Tucson feel like home. Since Pastor Michael will be new to Tucson, we hope this collection becomes both a welcome book and a guide to the community he is joining.
Please email your submission to Kaitlin by Sunday, June 14, 2026. Submissions should include:
* Your name
* Basic contact information
* When you joined St. Francis (if applicable)
* Any photos of yourself you would like to include
Kaitlin will provide an initial photo using the images taken for the upcoming church directory, but additional photos are warmly welcomed.
As an alternative, printed one-page submissions may also be placed in the box labeled “Welcome Pastor Long” on the Welcome Table in the lobby by Sunday, June 14th.
We hope everyone will take part in helping create this meaningful welcome gift for Pastor Michael before his first Sunday with us on July 5, 2026. Thank you for helping us extend such a thoughtful and heartfelt welcome!
