The School For Abul

How You Can Help

This ministry thrives through the generosity of the community. Here’s how you can make a difference:

         • Learn More — John Akuar’s story, Run John, Run … And Don’t Come Back, shares his journey and the vision behind the School for Abul. Books are $25.00, with proceeds directly supporting the school.
   • Donate Supplies or Give — Contributions help provide classrooms, fresh water, and the school essentials the teachers and students need.
   • Spread the Word — Share the story of the School for Abul and invite others to join in building hope through education.

Education, Water, and Hope for South Sudan

The School for Abul began with the vision and courage of John Akuar, one of the Sudanese “Lost Boys,” and the generosity of St. Francis in the Foothills. Together, they took up the challenge of building a school and digging fresh water wells for the people of Abul in Southern Sudan.

So far, classrooms have been built for 250 children, and five fresh water wells now provide clean water to the school and surrounding village. These simple resources bring hope, health, and the promise of a better future for the entire community.

Our Impact
The School for Abul creates opportunities where there were once none; giving children access to education and clean water in a place where both are scarce. Four teachers, all Lost Boys themselves, have returned to teach and inspire the next generation, despite having no salaries or steady resources.

The school has no electricity or plumbing, and basic school supplies are always needed, yet learning continues every day because of the dedication and resilience of the people of Abul and the faithful support of those who care.

Together, we can stand with Abul’s children and teachers, proving that even in the hardest places, new life can grow.
